"The Berlin Patient" embodied hope for all people living with HIV/AIDS
WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 30, 2020) - The ADAP Advocacy Association (aaa+®) today paused to reflect on Timothy Ray Brown's life and legacy as the first person cured of HIV. Brown, also known as "the Berlin patient," served as a global beacon of hope for all people living with HIV/AIDS. Brown died Tuesday at his home in Palm Springs, California.

Community-Based, Nonprofit Organizations Address Pandemic's Impact on Marginalized Communities Living with HIV/AIDS
WASHINGTON, D.C. (August 12, 2020) - The ADAP Advocacy Association (aaa+®) today announced it has awarded micro grants to eight community-based, nonprofit organizations navigating the intersection between COVID-19 and HIV/AIDS. The purpose is to raise awareness on how the global pandemic is impacting marginalized communities living with HIV/AIDS in the United States.

HIV Co-Pay Assistance Programs Potentially At-Risk
WASHINGTON, D.C. (May 12, 2020) - The ADAP Advocacy Association (aaa+®) today issued a strong rebuke to the Trump Administration’s claim that it is promoting healthcare affordability and improving consumer choice. The Final Payment Notice for 2021 Coverage Year released earlier this week by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services ("CMS") does the exact opposite by allowing health insurance companies to disallow drug manufacturer co-pay assistance programs towards patient out-of-pocket cost sharing and deductibles.

Coping with COVID-19
WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 20, 2020) - The ADAP Advocacy Association (aaa+®) today announced it would host a virtual patient support meeting to provide useful coping skills to assist people living with chronic health conditions – such as HIV/AIDS – during the ongoing novel Coronavirus pandemic ("COVID-19"). The virtual patient support meeting will address COVID-19-related anxiety, depression & stress (as well as substance use recovery for those who need it).

No HIV Drug Shortages Foreseen for People Living with HIV/AIDS
WASHINGTON, D.C. (March 26, 2020) - The ADAP Advocacy Association (aaa+®) today applauded the pharmaceutical industry efforts on protecting the nation’s drug supply chain for anti-retroviral medications in response to the ongoing Coronavirus ("COVID-19") pandemic. People living with HIV/AIDS can be assured that there will be no drug shortages in the coming year despite COVID-19.

All planned events postponed in response to Coronavirus Pandemic
WASHINGTON, D.C. (March 16, 2020) - The ADAP Advocacy Association (aaa+®) today announced it would suspend all face-to-face advocacy meetings until further notice in response to the ongoing Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The decision reflects an abundance of caution for advocates who are immunocompromised.

Retreats designed to assemble key stakeholder groups to discuss pertinent issues facing people living with HIV/AIDS
WASHINGTON, D.C. (February 13, 2020) - The ADAP Advocacy Association (aaa+®) today announced it would host its 2020 HIV/AIDS Fireside Chats, assembling key stakeholder groups to discuss pertinent issues facing people living with HIV/AIDS. In continuing the organization’s strong commitment to patient-centric advocacy, each will include local patient-advocates to ensure "that the voice of persons living with HIV/AIDS shall always be at the table and the center of the discussion."
