National AIDS Groups Launch Domestic Campaign
“U.S. AIDS Day – It's about Us!..."
WASHINGTON, D.C. (December 15, 2007) – The ADAP Advocacy Association, also known as aaa+, today joined two other national AIDS organizations to launch a new domestic AIDS campaign called “U.S. AIDS Day – It's about us!". The campaign, which is also being spearheaded by the Title II Community AIDS National Network (TIICANN) and Congressional Black Caucus Health Braintrust, is designed to highlight the importance of domestic AIDS issues.
U.S. Department of Labor Names aaa+ Board Member John D. Kemp as New Freedom Initiative Recipient
WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 24, 2007) – The ADAP Advocacy Association, also known as aaa+, today recognized its board member John D. Kemp for being presented with a national New Freedom Initiative Award by U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao for his contributions toward enhancing the employment of Americans with disabilities. Kemp is a principal at the Washington law firm of Powers, Pyles, Sutter & Verville P.C. The ceremony took place on Wednesday, October 24, at the JW Marriott Hotel, 1331 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, in Washington, D.C.

ADAP Advocacy Association Applauds Merck’s Decision to Listen to AIDS Advocates Concerns Over Pricing of its New Integrase Inhibitor
WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 17, 2007) – The ADAP Advocacy Association, also known as aaa+, today applauded the pricing schedule announced by Merck & Co., Inc. for its novel HIV integrase inhibitor, Isentress. aaa+ supported the efforts of the Fair Price Coalition, which has been negotiating an introductory price with Merck.
Funding Crisis Faces Crucial AIDS Program
ADAP Advocacy Association Calls Attention to Perpetual Federal Funding Shortfalls Facing the AIDS Drug Assistance Programs
WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 6, 2007) – The ADAP Advocacy Association, also known as aaa+, today called attention to the cash-strapped AIDS Drug Assistance Programs (ADAPs) needing additional federal funding to improve access to medications for persons living with HIV/AIDS. While Congress has approved funding increases over recent years, they have not been large enough to address the growing need for supports and services.

(August 2, 2007) – The ADAP Advocacy Association, also known as aaa+, today commended Representatives Elliott Engel (D-N.Y.) and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.) for re-introducing the “Early Treatment of HIV Act” (ETHA). aaa+ is supporting efforts to have Congress pass the bipartisan ETHA during the 1st Session of the 109th Congress.
