ADAP Advocacy Association Holds Annual Meeting in Birmingham, AL
Names Three Board Members and One Director Emeritus
WASHINGTON, D.C. (July 24, 2008) – The ADAP Advocacy Association, also known as aaa+, today announced that it has seated three members to its board of directors. During its 2008 Annual Meeting in Birmingham, Alabama, aaa+ re-elected two of its board members, Arch-Bishop Joyce Turner-Keller of Louisiana and Keita Simmons of Florida, and elected a new member, Elmer Cerano of Michigan. In addition, Rani Whitfield, M.D., was named the first Director Emeritus for his commitment and service to the ADAP Advocacy Association.
ADAP Advocacy Association Decries Return of ADAP Waiting Lists
Calls for Additional Federal Funding and Programmatic Transparency
WASHINGTON, D.C. (July 14, 2008) – The ADAP Advocacy Association, also known as aaa+, today sounded a cautionary alarm as waiting lists returned for Americans living with HIV/AIDS trying to access their life-saving medications through the AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP). Last week, it was reported that 35 individuals residing in two states, Indiana and Montana, had 28 and 7 individuals respectively waiting to receive ADAP services.
ADAP Advocacy Association Offers New Online Resource to Highlight Ongoing Access to Care Crisis in Puerto Rico
WASHINGTON, D.C. (June 30, 2008) – The ADAP Advocacy Association, also known as aaa+, today started a new online resource dedicated to highlighting the ongoing access to care crisis in Puerto Rico. The new online resource is part of the “Access to Care Domestic HIV/AIDS Initiative,” which was launched jointly by aaa+ and the Title II Community AIDS National Network (TII CANN). The health care crisis in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico has been characterized as nothing short of devastating to that small island’s HIV/AIDS population.

(March 13, 2008) – The ADAP Advocacy Association, also known as aaa+, and the Title II Community AIDS National Network (TII CANN) today blasted the Health Resources Services Administration’s (HRSA) decision to limit emergency housing assistance for Americans living with HIV/AIDS. HRSA has proposed an amendment that would create a 24-month lifetime cap on Ryan White emergency and transitional housing benefits.
